Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Powered Sciences ("we," "us," or "our") built Ana, a planner for polyphasic sleep schedules (the "App"). This Privacy Policy describes our information practices when you use the App. If you have questions, contact us at alfred.gamulo@gmail.com.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Ana is designed to work without collecting personal data. We do not collect:

• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Account credentials of any kind: the App has no accounts or sign-in
• Your location or GPS coordinates
• Your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
• Financial or payment information
• Your sleep schedule, block names, wake-up times, or calendar contents. These never leave your phone through anything we operate

3. Information Stored On Your Device

Ana saves one small file on your phone with your sleep pattern, the blocks you drew, templates you saved, your appointment-readiness settings, whether the alarm is on, and a few dates and counters used to decide when to invite you to rate the App. It also saves the time until which you chose to hide the banner ad. This file is not transmitted to us or to any third party and is removed when you uninstall the App.

4. Your Phone's Calendar

If you choose to export your schedule, Ana asks for permission to read and write calendars. It uses that permission only for a calendar that Ana creates itself on your phone, named as you choose. It does not read, change, or delete events in your other calendars. The calendar lives on your phone and is not synced to an online account by the App.

You can remove the calendar and everything Ana added to it at any time from Settings. Denying the permission is fine: the rest of the App works, and you can save a calendar file instead.

5. Alarms and Notifications

Ana rings its own alarm when a sleep block ends. To do this it schedules exact alarms, runs a short foreground service to play the alarm sound, posts a notification so you can dismiss the alarm, may show a full-screen alarm over the lock screen, vibrates, and re-arms the alarm after your phone restarts. None of this involves sending information anywhere.

6. Advertising

Ana shows a banner ad served by Google AdMob, and offers one optional ad that you can choose to watch in Settings to hide the banner for 24 hours. We do not run our own advertising or tracking. All ad serving is handled by Google's Mobile Ads SDK. Requests ask for general-audience (G-rated) content only, and we give the SDK no keywords and no information from the App: not your schedule, not block names, not calendar contents.

Before any ad request, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to ask for consent where required, for example under the GDPR (EU), the UK GDPR, and Swiss data protection law. You can reopen your choices in Settings when the form is available. To serve ads, Google may collect and use identifiers such as your device's advertising ID, your approximate location (derived from your network address), how you interact with ads, and diagnostic data. This is governed by Google's advertising privacy policy.

7. Permissions

Ana may ask for these permissions, each only for the feature that needs it:

• Calendar (read and write): to keep the calendar Ana creates in step with your pattern
• Notifications: to show and dismiss a ringing alarm
• Exact alarms and full-screen alerts: so the wake-up alarm rings on time, even on the lock screen
• Run at startup: to set the alarm again after a restart
• Internet and advertising ID: for the ads described above
• Vibrate and foreground service: so the alarm vibrates and keeps playing with the screen off

We do not request permissions for contacts, location, camera, microphone, phone calls, SMS, or storage.

8. Sharing and Feedback

You may save a pattern as a small template file and send it using your phone's own share sheet or file picker. It goes straight from your phone to the app you choose; Powered Sciences never sees it. If the App offers a "Send private feedback" button, it opens your email app with a message addressed to us and nothing attached. "Rate or review" opens Ana's page on Google Play. Powered Sciences receives an email only if you choose to send it.

9. Third-Party Services

Ana includes no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs of our own. The third parties involved are Google Play (distribution and the optional in-app rating sheet) and Google AdMob (ads). Please review Google's Privacy Policy for what Google collects.

10. Your Choices and Deleting Your Data

Because we hold none of your data, there is nothing for us to delete. You control what is on your phone: use "Remove everything Ana added" in Settings to delete the calendar the App created, clear the App's storage in Android settings to erase its saved file, or uninstall the App to remove all of it. Clearing storage leaves the calendar in place until you remove it.

11. Children's Privacy

Ana is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Data Security

Your data stays in the App's private storage, protected by Android's app sandbox and your device's security settings. The App's network traffic (ads only) uses encrypted connections, and the App refuses plain unencrypted ones. Android backup of the App's data is turned off.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" at the top of this page.
